Uploading a document to Salesforce is easy. Getting the information inside that document into the right Salesforce fields is not. Today, that work falls entirely on people:

The solution attaches an automated extraction pipeline directly to the moment of document upload. As soon as a supported file is attached to a Salesforce record, the system reads it using AI, identifies the relevant field values, and stages them for human review — all within under 60 seconds, and all without any user action to trigger it.

The process runs in four steps:

Step 1 — Document Upload

A user uploads a PDF or Word document to any Salesforce record. The system detects the upload instantly and begins processing in the background.

Step 2 — AI Reads the Document

The document is sent to an AI service that reads its full content and extracts the specific field values configured for that record type — such as contract start date, end date, renewal terms, or penalty clauses.

Step 3 — Values Staged for Review

Each extracted value is stored as a pending suggestion against the record. Nothing is written to live Salesforce fields until a person approves it.

Step 4 — One-Click Acceptance

A review panel on the record page shows each suggested value alongside its field label. Users can accept or reject each suggestion individually, and accepted values are applied to the record immediately.

Document & Attachment Intelligence is an AI-powered solution built on native Salesforce infrastructure and a secure external AI service. The automated extraction pipeline triggers end-to-end the moment a document is uploaded — reading the full file content, extracting configured field values, and staging them as pending suggestions on the Salesforce record for human review — rather than waiting for a user to initiate any action.

Each capability is delivered through Salesforce technologies as follows:

• Zero-Touch Document Detection: A trigger fires automatically the moment a PDF or Word document is attached to any configured Salesforce record type, initiating the extraction pipeline in the background with no user action required. Processing completes in under 60 seconds from upload to suggestions appearing on the record.
• AI Document Reading & Field Extraction: The document content is sent securely to an external AI service via Salesforce Named Credentials, which reads the full file and extracts the specific field values configured for that record type — such as contract start date, end date, renewal terms, and penalty clauses. Named Credentials manage authentication so no key or credential is held in code.
• Configuration-Driven Field Scope: The fields extracted from each document type are defined entirely through configuration records, not code. Adding a new field to extract, enabling extraction for a new Salesforce object type, or deactivating an individual field requires only a configuration record change — no developer deployment needed.
• Human-in-the-Loop Staging & Approval: Every extracted value is stored as a pending suggestion on a dedicated staging object, held there until explicitly reviewed. No AI-extracted value is ever written to a live Salesforce field without explicit user approval — the system guarantees that AI suggests and people decide, with a full audit trail of every suggestion and its accepted or rejected outcome.
• Embedded Review Panel: The suggestion review interface is surfaced as a tab directly on the Salesforce record page, showing each extracted field label and value alongside Accept and Reject actions. Accepted values are applied to the record immediately; rejected suggestions are dismissed without any field change. No separate application or context switch is required.
• Reporting & Audit Trail: Every suggestion record — including its extracted value, field target, and final accepted or rejected status — is stored on a standard Salesforce object and immediately available for Reports, list views, and compliance audits with no additional configuration.

Architecture principle: Deterministic Apex triggers and configuration records guarantee consistent, auditable extraction scope for every document upload; the external AI service handles document reading and field value identification; and the human-in-the-loop approval layer ensures no extracted value ever reaches a live Salesforce field without an explicit human decision — making the system accurate, controllable, and fully auditable end to end.
